VELUX EHF Men's Champions League Makes U.S. TV Debut on MHz Worldview Tomorrow

FALLS CHURCH, VA –  The VELUX EHF Champions League makes its U.S. television debut on MHz Worldview Saturday, October 9.

 

The broadcast premiere of the VELUX EHF Champions League this weekend is the first of nearly 20 matches in the world’s most prestigious club handball competition between now and the Final Four (May 28-29, 2011 in Cologne, Germany).

 

MHz Networks and EHF Marketing GmbH have reached an historic agreement with the European Handball Federation to provide “Match of the Week” coverage of games to nearly 34 million households throughout the U.S.

 

MHz Worldview will air VELUX EHF Champions League matches at 4 PM ET on Saturdays and Sundays during the season.

 

All of the world’s top players and clubs will be featured including defending champions THW Kiel (Germany), FC Barcelona Borges (Spain), HC Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb (Croatia) and Chekhovski Medvedi (Russia).

 

EHF Marketing GmbH is the marketing arm and daughter-company of the European Handball Federation. The agency works closely with marketing and media partners, as well as with Europe’s leading clubs to realize the full potential of the sport on the international sports market. EHF Marketing GmbH is responsible for the marketing and media rights of the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League and the EHF Women’s Champions League.

The content partnership was facilitated in part by USA Team Handball.  The U.S. Federation has been actively seeking television exposure for the sport as part of its long-term plan to grow handball in North America.

Its jurisdiction includes development of grassroots programs, preparation of national teams and day-to-day oversight of the sport of handball throughout the USA.
