MHz Original & Exclusive: Scandinavian Crime Fiction Doc Premieres on MHz Worldview

FALLS CHURCH, VA- Lone Wolves & Dragon Tattoos: How Scandinavian Crime Fiction Conquered the World premieres nationally on MHz Worldview February 28, 9 PM and 12 AM ET.

A MHz Networks original production, this documentary traces the evolution of Nordic crime fiction from its humble beginnings straight through to the worldwide phenomenon of ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.’  Viewers will meet some of Scandinavia’s biggest stars, and learn how their favorite detectives made the leap from literary page to screen.

“Stieg Larsson’s books have sold over 50 million copies around the world and have raised the profile of Scandinavian crime fiction to new heights,” says MHz Networks producer/director Chris Arth.  “Characters like Henning Mankell’s Detective Kurt Wallander and Norwegian private investigator Varg Veum- all seen on MHz- are riding the wave of the Stieg Larsson phenomenon.”

The program takes viewers on an incredible journey, from a Stockholm tour visiting locations from the Millennium books and films to Kurt Wallander’s hometown Ystad.  Audiences will meet Stieg Larsson’s American translator, Steven T. Murray, and go behind the scenes of the latest Varg Veum film in Bergen, Norway.

Among the many artists featured in the documentary are actors Krister Henriksson (Kurt Wallander), Peter Haber (Martin Beck/Martin Vanger in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and Trond Espen Seim (Varg Veum); authors Henning Mankell (Wallander), Gunnar Staalesen (Varg Veum) and Maj Sjowall (Martin Beck); producers Ole Sondberg and Soren Staermose (Wallander/Millennium Trilogy) and Peter Bose (Varg Veum).
