Mehfil, Mehfil Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Broadcast

FALLS CHURCH, VA – First airing in 1985, Mehfil, Mehfil, recently celebrated its 25th broadcast anniversary on MHz Networks.

The Pakistani program produced in the Washington, DC area includes news from Pakistan, local community news, as well as an education segment on Islam, all in Urdu.

Show producer Zahid Hameedi created the program to highlight news and culture within the Washington, DC community.

Mehfil, Mehfil airs Sundays at 12 PM, and is one of 15 independent producers programs airing in the Washington, DC metro area on MHz Networks.

MHz Networks works with local independent producers to aggregate thought-provoking original productions with a global community focus.

According to Independent Producers manager Vincent Jack, independent producers on MHz bring content that is international and globally relevant, as well as community-based, informative and entertaining.

MHz Networks Chief Executive Frederick Thomas says, "Mr. Hameedi has perhaps had more impact on the local Pakistani community than anyone.  He was there for this community before there were satellite channels and the internet. He is a remarkable guy."
